Place the body pattern piece on the cuddly fabric and cut it out. Do the same for the arms, heart, pocket, and eye. To make the basic Momster form you need to cut 2 arm pieces and 2 body pieces. Depending on how you want to customize your little Momster cut an eye, heart, and/or pocket.  Fold the arm pieces in half lengthwise, RIGHT SIDE facing inwards, and sew as shown in the picture below.

Sew along the edges of the arms and flip

Turn the arm inside out and stuff, just a bit. Not too much, they should be floppy so they can give better hugs. Leave a little space at the top, it will make it much easier to sew onto the body later.

Now for the fun bit. On the RIGHT SIDE of the body start laying out your pocket, heart, eye, and buttons till you’re happy with the look. Get the kids to help you. Pin the pieces in place and either hand sew on the bits or use your sewing machine. To make the mouth use some black wool and make sure to give your Momster a big, fat smile.

Don’t you just want to eat her up? Okay, let’s finish her off. Lay one of the body pieces flat, RIGHT SIDE up and put the arms one on either side of the body. Then put the other body piece on top RIGHT SIDE down and pin the arms in place.

Place the arms on one of the body pieces and lay the second piece on top

Sew around the body  1 cm from the edge and leave a gap just big enough for your hand to fit through at the top. Be careful of the pins and take it slowly when you get to the arms, they’ll be a bit fat and chunky!!

Sew around the edges of the Momster leaving a gap at the top of the head

Take your pins out and then turn it RIGHT SIDES out. Stuff firmly.

Flip the Momster right side out and stuff

Sew up the gap in her head using a needle and thread and add some wool for hair if you’d like.
