y Sadly theHello lovelies. I just wanted to share some good news with you all today. We’ve been awarded the Best SA Arts and Crafts Blog for the second year in a row. We are so incredibly grateful, whoot, whoot, happy dance. THANK YOU so much for voting for us, and following us on our crafty DIY journey. It’s been a ball and we’ve learnt so very much. To try and repay all the love and support we’ve received I thought it would be a good idea to share what we did to get our little blog on the map and maybe it will help other DIY and Craft bloggers too.
When we started the blog a little more than 2 years ago I had no idea how to get people to come visit. We used to beg our family and friends just to click on a post. I may even have bribed my kids to click once or twice ;-) Anyways when you create something, you want to share it with the world, but it’s not easy. Especially when you’re a newbie to the whole blogging thing. I made loads of mistakes and googled like a maniac to try find out how to get our name out there. Pinterest, StumbleUpon and Facebook sent traffic our way but it came in dribs and drabs and then I discovered these awesome submission sites. So to save you the hassle, here’s a list of my 16 favorite sites where you can submit your DIY or craft tutorials and get more traffic.
My Top 16 DIY and Craft Submission Sites for 2018
To submit your post to any of these sites just click on the heading and it should take you staright to the submission page ;-) Please check their terms and conditions before submitting your blog post and do your due diligence.
30 Minute Crafts features all types of craft projects, which can be made in 30 minutes or less. Sometimes we just don’t have a lot of time to make something so this is the perfect place to share those quick and easy things.
All Free Christmas Crafts
As the name implies, they feature Christmas crafts from around the world. We normally see a spike in our traffic from around October all the way through to December from All Free Christmas Crafts. Submitted projects may be featured on other submission sites belonging to the Prime Publishing Craft Group.
All Free Holiday Crafts
Just like All Free Christmas Crafts, All Free Holiday Crafts features holiday-inspired crafts from around the world. So if you’ve made something for Valentine’s day or decorated your table for Easter, submit your projects here. Submitted projects may be featured on other submission sites belonging to the Prime Publishing Craft Group.
All Free Kids Crafts
All Free Kids Crafts features child-friendly crafts and tutorials. Most of their readers are looking for fun, easy craft projects that they can do with their kids. Our projects normally involve a power tool or two so I don’t submit there often. Submitted projects may be featured on other submission sites belonging to the Prime Publishing Craft Group.
Craft Gossip
We get quite a bit of traffic from CraftGossip when they feature one of our projects. You can submit new crafty ideas, gossip or even a story relating to DIY. When you submit a tutorial you need to choose a category so it goes to the right editor for approval.
Craftgawker
I have a love/hate relationship with CraftGawker. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve submitted something and received a rejection email from them. UGH, Submissions are based on photo quality, which is probably why I get more rejections. (32 accepted, 66 rejected and counting). Don’t be discouraged though, each rejection email tells you exactly why they didn’t like the photo and I’ve learnt so much. You need to set up an account to submit projects.
DIY Cozy Home
When you submit a post to DIY Cozy Home Linda will even help with the write up about the post, which is great when you struggle with words like I do. Just make sure that you give her enough information and a pretty picture. DIY Cozy Home no longer exists
DIY Idea Center
One of my favorites. DIY Idea Center features beautiful DIY and craft ideas. I love getting creative inspiration from there and we’ve seen a big spike in our traffic when one of our projects are featured in their newsletter. Submitted projects may be featured on other submission sites belonging to the Prime Publishing Craft Group.
Dollar Store Crafts
Dollar Store Crafts features cool, cheap crafts posts that use items bought at the Dollar Store. We’ve never submitted a post since we don’t have a Dollar Store in South Africa.
Fave Crafts
Fave Crafts features all kinds of craft projects, from knitting and sewing to gardening and home decor ideas. Submitted projects may be featured on other submission sites belonging to the Prime Publishing Craft Group.
Fun Family Crafts
Another child-friendly craft submission site that’s aimed at families looking for age appropriate crafts to do with their kids.
HomeTalk
I love hometalk. You need to become a member to contribute a project and they send a HUGE amount of traffic our way, especially when they feature one of our home décor or repurposing craft ideas in their newsletter. Hometalk loves a good before picture to entice people to read more and see what the final project looks like. You’ll need to include at least three photos and 100 words before you can add your blog post URL.
IKEA Hacker
We’ve never submitted anything to IKEA hacker since we don’t have IKEA here in South Africa but I have lots of good things from my blogging friends overseas. So if you’ve hacked something from IKEA it’s probably worth it.
Inspiration DIY
Inspiration DIY features craft projects, home decor ideas and DIY tips. Sadly they no longer exist :-(
Knockoff Décor
Knock Off Décor features all kinds of DIY and home décor ideas that have been inspired by high-end designer pieces. You need to add a photo of both the knock off and the inspiration piece.
The Graphics Fairy
We often use graphics from the Graphic Fairy in our DIY projects and it’s pretty easy to submit a project. The ladies are super supportive and send loads of traffic our way.
These are my favorites but I ‘m sure there are more out there. Just remember that each submission site has their own rules and requirements about how and what to share. And don’t forget to about local directory listings. A really good resource here in South Africa is Cape Town insider. You simply need to add the words “Featured on CTInsider” to qualify. I’ve tried to summarise the submission requirements for you and you’re welcome to download it. Make sure you follow the rules to increase the chances of being featured. And remember a pretty picture says a thousand words.
But here’s a pretty picture of Merlin doing what he does best though :D
Isn’t he just beautiful? Do you have any favorite submission sites that have helped you grow your blog? I’d love to hear about it. In the meantime, we’re going to be doing the happy dance for a few more days to celebrate the award. THANK YOU once again for all your support and hope you have an amazingly beautiful week.

well I’ve a question..
After submitting over these websites, can we post on our personal blog too?
I’m glad it helps Zubaria and yes you can. I normally post on our blog first and then submit the craft or DIY idea to these sites.
Hi Michelle – congratulations on your award! I just wanted to let you know that I accept submissions for Kid’s Craft tutorials over at Just Bright Ideas. I’ve popped the link in the comment box – I’d really appreciate it if you would consider adding it to your list.
Thanks so much for that Clare and I really appreciate you sharing the link (justbrightideas.com/be-featured) I’m sure a whole bunch of other people will too.
Congrats on the well deserved award Michelle!
Your projects are mind boggling and deserve to be seen, praised and awarded!!
Also, a huge thanks for sharing your resources – I contribute to several of these but found a couple I will have to check out.
Awww Maya, thank you so very much. That means a lot coming from someone as talented as what you are. I hope the sharing resources bring you lots of traffic, you’re creations are just beautiful
Michelle, thank you for this list! It’s always great getting our stuff out there and nice that these submission sites are there to help. Merlin is so gorgeous!!
I hope it helps Keri. I’m sure lots of people would love to see your stenciling tips being featured on one of these sites
Oh, Michelle. Thank you so much for posting this! I have been wanting to find some sites to start submitting things to, but haven’t taken the time to search yet. Having so many wonderful sites compiled in one place like this is a-mazing! So thank you! And congratulations on Best SA Arts and Crafts Blog!! So well deserved.
Yay, that’s great Amy. I’m glad I could help a little. Good luck with those submissions, I’m sure your projects will be featured, they’re all so lovely
Thanks for sharing this very organized and detailed description of the various sites. I’m so excited to start exploring more sites.
I’m so happy you liked it Michele. All of the best and hope you get loads of features and traffic
Michelle, congratulations on this award and all the ones that have been achieved before this one. Your post is so exciting, I am a newbie to the craft scene and I am loving it. So much to learn.
Thank you so much Kathleen. I’m really glad you liked the post and I hope it helps you get lots of traffic
I love making crafts and used to do them a lot, until I started blogging (weird huh?). I hope that I will be able to pick them up soon! Thanks for sharing these websites~
It’s a pleasure Tiffany
Congrats on the award Michelle, it is not a surprise for me because you come up always with the most cool projects. Also thanks for the round up, I didn’t know many of those. I have one I like maybe you didn’t know:
? Oh my yes, I used to love Totally Tutorials but Kym hasn’t accepted submissions for such a long time. It’s almost like she dropped off of the face of the earth. I wish I knew where she was, because we still, after all these years, get traffic from them.
I’m glad to have this list Michelle. I’m going to check a lot of them out. And a big huge congrats for making the best SA Arts & Crafts blog list again! I’d say that’s a huge honor! And it’s well-deserved.
Thank you so much Florence, it is a huge honor to be one of the Top Sa Arts and Crafts blogs. There are just so many talented people out there
I don’t do a ton of crafts but this is a great list to know about for when I do come up with something!
I’m sure you and Leopold will be doing loads of crafts now that he’s getting a little older Ayana and All Free Kids Crafts would love to see those creations
Wow! congratulations. I love you crafts. They are very detailed and easy to follow. I am saving this post so if I ever try to make a DIY in future so I know where to submit my post. I am sure craft and DIY bloggers will appreciate this post. I make DIY skin care recipes. Can I submit those on any of these websites?
Thank you so much Sureka and yes you can. Quite a few of the web sites in the list take submissions for home made skin care products. Just make sure you submit them to the right editor so they can approve it quicker.
Many congratulations on being awarded the Best SA Arts and Crafts Blog second year in a row, you are so creative and talented, love visiting your blog. The compilation of the submission lists sounds great, will check these out.
Thank you so much Preet, I really appreciate that
Well this is cool. I think every blogger could use more traffic.

This is a fantastic roundup. Thanks for compiling. Will help a lot of beginner crafters.
It’s a pleasure Aditi, I hope it does help in some small way
Congratulations on the blog award. You deserve it! You have so many great DIY ideas here.
And thank you for the awesome list of submission sites. I knew about Hometalk and CraftGawker, but I had no idea there were so many others. Thank you!!!
It’s a huge pleasure Rebecca. I hope you get loads of links back from them
Many Congratulations to you! And this is such a wonderful list of sites that submit DIY content. I’m sure it will be a great resource for DIY and crafts bloggers!
Thanks so much Ana
Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS! This is so well deserved. All your DIYs are so well done and the steps broken down to perfection. I am sure the bloggers interested in DIY will truly appreciate the recourses.
Thank you Tanvi, I really appreciate your beautiful comment so much. I do hope that other DIY and craft bloggers will get some extra traffic too.
Congrats on the award. This is a really great source of information for bloggers. Merlin is gorgeous too
Thanks so much Elizabeth
Wow well done Michelle, what an amazing feat, twice in row! And truly desereved I must say, you are such a creative person and it is always a pleasure to come to your blog. Thank you for listing these blogs I will have to check them out! :)
Thank you Ithi and for all your support too my friend
Thanks for this there is a couple here I need to follow up on. I to have the love-hate thing with Craftgawker but it has made me a better photographer.
I know right!!? Their Gawker admins are really sticky about the quality of photos but they give such valuable feedback on how to improve the pic.
It’s great that you found so many websites that can help you grow your own. Sometimes it’s very hard to rely only on ranking on Google, as the traffic is always unpredictable.
You’re so right Joanna. The submission sites help so much and they give us lots of google juice too
What an amazing exhaustive list! My blog is in the “beauty” niche, so none of these sites would be quite helpful for me. I should search for equivalent sites in my niche!
I’m sure there must be some out there Nati. I wouldn’t know a thing about beauty and makeup but try searching for “beauty blogs”, “submit” and “submissions” and perhaps something will come up.
YAY, Michelle! Congratulations on the award!!! That’s awesome and I’m doing the happy dance with you, my friend! :)
Wow, I had no idea that there are so many possibilities out there to submit craft ideas. I haven’t done any step-by-step instructions on my blog yet but I save your list just in case. Thank you for sharing!
Awww, Merlin is such a beautiful boy and I’m sure he’s wonderful helper with your projects.
Merlin is a little super star. He’s our big cuddle baby. I’ve never met a purr baby that loves cuddles as much as he does. He’ll often lie in my arms for ages on his back purring away without a care in the world. Love him to bits. Thanks for doing the happy dance with us my friend and for being there for us these last two years. You’re such an inspiration and you know how much I love all your repurposed sculptures and art work.
Congrats Michelle! That’s so awesome! Merlin is quite a handsome kitty. :) That’s so cool that you’ve found all these sites to submit your posts. I need to find some for travel/food related submission websites.
Thanks so much Sam and for all your support too. I do hope you find some submission site for foodies and travel blogs. When I first started searching I used a combination of the keywords “submit” “submission” and blogs to try find which ones were best suited to our niche. CraftGawker has a sister site called FoodGawker (I think it’s called FoodGawker) where you can submit your GF recipes. Maybe you should try them?
Great list! I’ll be checking them all out. One I’ve used lately is https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/ (Cut Out + Keep)
Thanks so much for sharing this!!
I completely forgot about Cut Out + Keep. Thanks for the reminder Hope. I wonder if they still want the full tutorial, I’ll have to go have a looksee
Yay Michelle! Congratulations on the award well deserved!
Thanks for sharing your list of submission sites, these will be very helpful for us bloggers. I have tried a few, I just need to be more persistent.
Thank you my friend. You’ve been so supportive of us and I really, really appreciate it. I keep that little cheat sheet right next to my laptop otherwise I tend to forget too. ?
I use Craftgawker quite often… and I have seen a lot of my posts published there. And from Craftgawker I saw some of my posts published in bit sites such as Apartment Therapy. The only difficulty with my blog posts is that I write and publish in an unknown for them language, Greek. Thank you so much Michelle for this list. You did excellent work and you are such a kind person! Thank you :)
That does make it a little difficult Christina, and it’s such a pity because all your decor ideas are stunning and the translate button works. Perhaps you could try submitting to DIY Cozy Home too. She’ll help out with the write up
Thank you for all the resources Michelle. Honestly I only use Craftgawker and Dwellinggawker. I also had no idea there were so many others!
I’ve seen so many of your beautiful creations on CraftGawker Katrin. You’re photos are always so stunning and it will be a breeze for you to get featured on the other submission sites. Hope you give them a try
This is so appreciated, Michelle. I only knew of two of these places to submit. It’s really great to have so many places to broadcast your posts. Thank you very very much.
It’s a big pleasure Leanna. You make so many lovely things and I’m sure if you submit your posts you’ll get loads of traffic from them
Thank you for sharing this. It is a fantastic resource.
It’s a pleasure Debra, DIYIdeaCenter are going to love the things you do.
Congratulations on getting the Best SA arts and crafts blog award the second time, you deserve it. I am very happy for you.
Thank you soooo much my friend and for all your support these last two years. It means so much to us
Thank you for this list. I love this and am going to try some of these. I already submit to Hometalk and have been rejected several times by CraftGawker but some of these I have not heard of. Such great information!
Ahhhh yes CraftGawker. When I see ” Your post titled” from one of the them then I know it was accepted. But when I see “unfortunately……” my heart sinks a little and then I read their comment about the problem and try to fix it if I can. They really have taught me so much about how to improve our photos. I’m glad you liked the list. I hope it drives loads of traffic your way Michelle
Thank you SO MUCH for this list. It’s so nice of you to post. I always forget about so many of them. love you!!!!!
It’s a huge pleasure Carolann. I hope it comes in handy for you
This is a great resource, Michelle. My first choice is and will remain Hometalk. Actually, this is where I found you :)
I remember that Gabi ❣ Isn’t it amazing how the submission sites connect us with each other and take small sites and give them the exposure we would never get tryimg to do it on our own
Michelle this is a really great resource for us bloggers who need to get our works out there to the people who want to see them. I will have to check them out! Thanks for taking the time to round them up, I had no idea there were so many.
It’s a pleasure Mary. I hope it helps in some way, your stuff is always so beautiful, more people need to see it
