So happy you like our little Unicorn SPiT cupboard, Nicole. To seal I prefer using a water-based sealer. I find the oil-based ones tend to yellow over time. Ronseal and Aquacote are both good. You can also apply an outdoor clear wax, which will feed the wood and seal in too. If you use wax then you’ll need to reapply it again. We use Woodcote, but I’m not sure if it’s available everywhere.

I absolutely love this! Thinking about using it on some hand made outdoor wood furniture. If I did what would you seal it with?

Thanks so much, Ava, you made my day. WRT to your question, there are some high-grade water-based polyurethanes out there that will definitely work. I’ve never tried them myself since they’re a bit more expensive than the oil-based versions. I’ve heard really good things about Minwax.

Your project is so beautiful:) I’ve been looking at putting minerals in polyurethane and doing a floor at the entrance to my home but this has created some excitement! Do you think it could go on a painted floor and then covered with water based polyurethane?

Dankje wel, ek waardeur dit baie. I had the same problem when I first started playing with Unicorn SPiT. Staying in South Africa the Amazon shipping costs are a nightmare. I reached out to the lady who created SPiT and she kindly sent them to me. It worked out way cheaper. She’s since sold the recipe but if you search for “Unicorn SPiT Gel Stain Q & A (OFFICIAL)” on facebook, there’s a wonderful community of SPiTTers who will jump at the chance and maybe they can point you in the right direction. I do hope you get some, it’s awesome stuff

Hello Dominique ? Unicorn SPiT was made in right there in America so you should be able to get it without any problems. I believe it’s available in Walmart and you can order it online too. Have fun redoing your Dad’s rocking chair
