Making a Teddy Bear Swing and Other Interesting Things
Hello there, I hope you’re having a great day. We’ve been super busy in our bedroom. Mind out the gutter please, we’re old and it takes strategic planning to be that kind of busy 😉 We’ve been making over our boring chest of drawers, which is finally almost finished. But you know how these things go. When you start with one thing it invariably means something else has to change too. Like the wall behind the chest of drawers. It needed something more, like a little teddy bear swing.
If it doesn't have swings, it's not a playground 😉
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never outgrown my love for a cuddly teddy bear and they normally reside on our bed. Which is probably half the reason why we have to plan strategically 😀
A bedroom without a teddy bear is like a face without a smile
Once you’ve fed the purr babies and taken the teddies off the bed you’re just too tired to do anything else.
Back to the teddy bear swing.
How To Make a Teddy Bear Swing
This must have been one of the fastest DIY’s in the history of DIY’ing. Okay making the second fastest DIY that involves teddy bears. All you need is a piece of wood that’s wide enough to accommodate a teddy bear’s bottom, some rope and a drill.
Drill four holes into the piece of wood about an inch from the corners.
Stain or paint the piece of wood to match your décor if you want to. We burnt our piece of wood with a heat gun and then sanded it down lightly. Don’t you just love the colors?
Cut two pieces of rope and thread it through the four holes. I found it easier to tape of the edges of the rope so it wouldn’t fray. To thread the rope, push the rope through from the top of the swing seat, and then down under and back up again.
Tie the end of the rope to the long bit, making sure that both sides are equal.
To hang the teddy bear swing we just hammered two conduit saddles into the ceiling, but normal hooks would probably work too.
Did you notice our popcorn ceiling. According to the people who know these things, they’re soooo not cool, but I don’t actually mind them. I like counting popcorn kernels. It helps me sleep 😉
If you like the idea of a teddy bear swing don’t forget to save it for later.
Would you make a swing for your teddy bear? I’d really love to know. The hubby says it’s I’m a bit weird, so please let me know if there are any fellow weirdos out there.
