For the Love of Felt
You can make these little felt embellishments in under and hour and they’re stuffed with plastic bags – it’s an awesome way to recycle.
What you need to make some felt embelishments:
- Felt in contrasting colours
- Flower or heart template (you can download templates off the internet or you can use this one)
- Embroidery thread
- Plastic bags for stuffing
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors
Cut out your flower by placing your template on the felt and cutting around the shape. You’ll need two felt flowers pieces to make one little flower.
Cut a smaller flower and stitch this little flower to one of your larger flower pieces using a basic in and out stitch. Add some beads, sequins, buttons or even other bits of felt to add a bit of glam. Once that’s done, put your two larger flower pieces together and using blanket stitch, stitch them together leaving a small opening (just big enough for you to get your finger into).
Stuff your flower with plastics bags that have been cut into little strips and sew closed.
You can make the heart in the same way.
Aren’t they cute? They can be given as a Valentine’s gift or you can use them to jazz up a pillow. Add a safety pin to the back and you have a quirky brooch or hang them in your Christmas tree, the possibilities are endless.
